New Borats, Voting

The last couple days have been tricky to get much added and I apologize for those coming back to check for updates. I’ve been busily finishing a really cool commissioned video piece for Actress Kristin Lehman who asked me to do something as her Wedding gift to her new husband, Adam Reed, also an accomplished Actor and Producer/Director who is a great guy. Keeping the whole thing a secret was quite a challenge, but now that the Wedding has happened I will be posting it for everyone to check out in the video pages on my main site at www.oligoldsmith.com.

999 Borats is now my main focus of energy as I have been working on that video project quietly too for some time. So expect to see alot more alot quicker. The aim is 500 for the end of the month and to start making the originals, which come professionally mounted on museum board in a special sleeve - ready for framing or enjoying as is. They will also come with a certificate of authenticity and a couple other cool surprises.

I am in the middle of adding a voting and feedback system to the new site hopefully by tonight. I am about to upload the latest gallery with new additions right now and I’m eager to find out from everyone which pieces they like the best. Especially given this project has such a range of styles and aesthetics intentionally.

If there is a work in particular you have your eyes on (or you find one that does as they are added, I will be making a special opportunity to those who sign up for the newsletter where they will have a chance to have first dibs on the original artworks for a 24 hour window before the general public. By signing up you also are qualified to potentially win the life-sized Borat which will be unveiled on or around July 1st when all of the 999 Portraits are up and available to buy.

One thing to clarify though is that to be in the running for winning this awesome piece, you are not required to purchase any original works. I am still working out how to most fairly choose the winner, but it will be a random newsletter subscriber (which you must still be a member of to qualify for winning when the piece is shown). I guarantee it will be fairly chosen, I will likely use a random number generator on the web live at a specific date and time so you can watch live to see if it you are the winner.

The ‘input’ section of the site is almost done too and may be up by tonight, but it is my wife Caroline’s birthday (in a few minutes actually) so that may not be functioning until Monday. It is more a bulletin board style thing than a forum where I invite your commentary, criticism, questions, encouragement or anything else you have to say about the project.

999 Borats is something I realize is an undertaking sure to elicit a wide range of opinion and I’m eager to here yours, whatever that may be!

Other cool upcoming features to the site include an interactive, flipalbum eFolio as an alternate way to browse the increasingly large body of work. I am also looking at building some interactivity into the next update to the screensaver content, so if you already have yours installed keep an eye out for that. If you haven’t grabbed yours yet grab it in downloads for free now!

All the best, Oli signing off for today.

Talk to you again soon!
