Hi Welcome to Eskimo Artist Blog of Oli Goldsmith for the make 999 Borats

This is my first entry to any blog ever to tell you the truth! I’ve been meaning to add one to my main site, http://www.oligoldsmith.com for a while but haven’t ever gotten around to it. In upgrading the 999 Borats site I wanted to include a blog where I could informally write about my progress (or lack thereof on a certain day) as the project progresses. Probably also ramble on about a variety of inconsequential subjects, and fill you in on anything of note regarding my other art and projects too.

So I must get back to finishing this fancier new version of the site to share with you, but thanks for stopping by the site and I will be updating lots in the coming days. And make sure you sign up for the newsletter at the top of the page if you are interested in the project or my art generally. I am not making the suggestion to harvest your personal data and sell it off to the Uzbekistan Spy unit or the Kazakh Info Squad, nor will you be bombarded with loads of messages and I use a professional service that makes it simple to unsubscribe super-easily with one click on any email you get from me. It is just the easiest way for me to keep you informed occasionally on cool goings on, when I add a load of particularly exciting new images, etc. (not to mention you will be automatically validated to be in the running to win the slightly ostentatious, over-the-top Borat #1000 life size canvas!!).

If you are interested in owning one of the originals, they will be going on sale starting about June 1st (though not all 999 will be complete until July 1st). I will be announcing details in the newsletter first so you’ll have the scoop on when you can grab the one you want before anyone else does!

I hope you enjoy the site, the screensaver (get it in the bonus area) and following my abnormal adventures in artmaking with this admittedly wacky project. On a more serious note though I have put up a project background section that exlains some of my thoughts and reasons for deciding to do this and why I find it to be a really appealing and interesting project to take on, so check that out too if you like.

And I encourage feedback! This whole ‘experiment’ was intended to explore engaging with an online audience, so I have added voting to the gallery images (just click on the 5 star rating system to have your say) and please leave me and everyone else your comments whatever they may be. You can do that either responding to blog entries or in a special feedback section that should be there by the time you are reading this!

Talk to you soon,

oli
